JULIUS CAESAR: RISE OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE 2023 (BBC)

Story: “Julius Caesar: Rise of the Roman Empire” (w/t), a 3×60’ for BBC Two and iPlayer, landmark three-part box set history series that tells the dramatic story of how nearly five centuries of ancient Roman democracy was overthrown in just 16 years. It the story of a brazen, ambitious power-grab that saw Julius Caesar consolidate the vast power of Rome in his own hands.

The series brings together an expert cast of historians, military leaders and experienced political operatives to unfold and analyse this epic story, exploring the how Caesar achieved his remarkable rise to power, the impact it had on Rome’s delicate political system and, asking ultimately why Caesar had to die?

Filming: We were really lucky on finding the Location “ Villa Ventorum “ in Somerset, a Roman Villa, builded with the purpose in mind to be a museum, but it became our set. 

We didn’t have all that was required and we had to create and built Roman Streets around the exterior walls of the Villa. In fairness not an easy job, the weather was against us and it rained a lot making it for us nearly impossible to work. But my team was incredible and strong, they worked so hard on this project, I will never be able to thank them enough.
